Elaine Dunphy
I am sad to report the recent death of Elaine Dunphy who was Chief Librarian here at Robert Gordon University (and its forerunner the Robert Gordon Institute of Technology). Elaine studied librarianship here in the 1970s and I still, in fact, have a copy of the class photos from that time here in the office and it is fair to say that she changed very little over the years. Elaine was Chief Librarian here for many years and during her tenure witnessed huge changes in the shape of services not least from a multi-location campus down to two main sites. She also was Acting University Secretary for a time and was actively involved in a whole range of professional groups including SCURL. She also taught here in the then School of Librarianship for number of years. Elaine had a long battle with ill-health and died peacefully in hospital last week. I am sure she will be remembered by many.
